#80: Watch a Movie at the Drive-In

13 April 2012

It’s Friday. I’m not working, the sun is shining and I’m dying for a little adventure! So what’s the best thing to do? Give in, pack my bags, grab a friend and try something on my life list!

The closet drive-in theater that’s open is Kingston’s Family Fun World. It’s only an hour and a half from where I live, Kingston is on of my favorite cities, and it’s has three screens with all the newest movies.

We get there early, and since it’s so nice out enjoy a little shopping. That’s when I managed to buy more than I thought, including this insanely big and bright yellow purse! I could pretty much use it to signal aircraft if I wanted to! Ha ha ha

Next was supper…AND #112 Enjoy a Deep-Fired Mars Bar!

As it’ my first drive-in experience, I was really sure what to expect. It reminds me of the drive-ins you see in the old fashion movies. Cars line up at the mini toll both like building, where the friendly attendee asks us which movie we’d like to see tonight.  We pay admission (surprisingly inexpensive!), we get the rule sheet (there’s rules?!?! Apparently it’s drive in theater etiquette which is needed!), tickets (more like the 50/50 draw tickets but it’s cute) and directions (there’s three theaters in this location).

Tonight’s movie is 21 Jump Street.  It’s a re-make of the original that stared Johnny Depp. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill do a great job bringing on the laughs! The movie is about a pair of underachieving cops are sent back to a local high school to blend in and bring down a synthetic drug ring.

Broke out the blanket (it gets chilly fast!), set back the car seat, turned off all the lights…and laughed through the entire movie.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet (you should, so long as you don’t get easily offended and enjoy a few laughs) be sure to look up the official movie trailer.

If you’ve never tried the drive-in, I fully recommend it. Just don’t forget to bring snacks, water and a warm blanket!
